The new corporate headquarters purchased by Consolidated Label consists of 40,000 square feet of office space and 140,000 square feet of warehouse space. The property is considered too large to be covered by roaming guards. A high-resolution video system integrated with an access control system was needed to address the security challenges to protect and monitor staff and processes.
After a detailed assessment of the facility was performed to determine areas for camera coverage and areas needing access restrictions, a comprehensive integrated design was deployed utilizing megapixels cameras, access control, wireless lockset devices, paging system and video management software. Areas of camera coverage focused on the manufacturing floor area for the benefit of improved quality control, lobby, employee gates, and main side entrance/exit with the focus on security, situation awareness and life safety. The loading dock area was covered for the purpose of protecting staff, equipment and freight. A Paxton Net2 access control system was utilized for added security to control access to main gates, lobby, and other core building entrances. Consolidated wanted the ability to manage the flow of staff and visitors due to the fact of having to manage such a large scale site. Once the system was installed and Consolidated saw how simple it was to use, the decision was made to extend the system to more doors around the site. In addition to the access control system, wireless mechanical locksets by Assa Abloy Aperio were deployed for areas where installing cables for access control were cost prohibitive. Aperio is a smart technology that enables mechanical locks to be wirelessly linked to a new or existing access control system. To integrate the IP video surveillance system and networked access control system, Milestone Video management software was selected for the its scalability, flexibility and open architecture.
